The power of praise and worship

"And the men of Kirjath-jearim came, and fetched up the ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the LORD." (1Samuel 7:1)

We here encounter the first mention of the house of Abinadab on the hill. The Ark remained in the house of Abinadab for 20 years (1Samuel 7:2) and no blessing was recorded. Do you know why?

Thirteen years after the Ark was placed in the house of Abinadab, King Saul was slain by the Philistines in a battle on Mt. Gilboa bordering the valley of Armageddon. Abinadab was also killed in that battle together with his father Saul (1Sa 31:2). This ended the 40 year reign of Saul. No blessing was recorded in that house...why?

David succeeded Saul as King, and reigned in Hebron 7 years. He takes Jerusalem, makes it his new Capital City, and decides to bring the Ark to Jerusalem (2 Sam 5:3-7). Abinadab is no longer alive, but the Ark is still in the "House of Abinadab" (2Samuel 6:3). No blessing for his two sons...why?

Now the Ark is leaving the house of Abinadab -
"And they cause the ark of God to ride on a new cart, and lift it up from the house of Abinadab, which is in the height, and Uzzah and Ahio, sons of Abinadab are leading the new cart;... And David and all the house of Israel played before the Lord on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals. " (2 Samuel 6:3-5).

It was recorded that a dramatic tragedy takes place as the procession moves toward Jerusalem. Uzzah sees the cart lurch, and stretches out his hand to steady the Ark, and keep it from falling. Fire from heaven strikes him dead. (2 Samuel 6:6-8) Why was the Ark active that period? No blessing again?

And David was afraid of the Lord that day, so the Presence of God already activated was carried aside into the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. The Ark only stayed in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite for three months: and the Lord blessed Obed-edom, and all his household. (2 Samuel 6:9-12) Blessing was recorded this time...why?

And King David was told that the Lord has blessed the house of Obed–edom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God.

Lessons

The Ark of God represented the immediate presence and glory of God in Israel and in you - in our days.
70 years in Abinadab's house the presence of God was not felt because it was not activated with praises and worship.
Like many Christians today, we ask, ask and ask. We don't praise and offer worship to our God.

Uzzah, who must have been touching the Ark when it was not activated in their house for many years never realise that the Ark has been activated by the praises of the Choir and instrumentalists setup by King David. So he touched and died!

But in three months, Obed–edom and his household were greatly - I mean greatly - blessed.

Trust humans, David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed–edom into the city of David with gladness - host of choristers and instrumentalists.
He danced because he knew the secret of "activation and receiving" and the blessings that has come to his household.

Well, I can't forget Milcah. She mocked David and since the Ark was already activated, she received curse because the bearer of the Ark is blessed and anointed...remember, "touch not my anointed!..."

My message to you

It is not about asking. God knows all that you need and desire! Why not activate His presence in you! He inhabit in our praises...that was why David had to write that in Psalms.

Today, I want you to ask Him nothing. He has provided this day your daily bread.
Worship and praise Him!
Believe me, the blessings you will get in return (3days) will be greater than what 70days of prayer without Thanksgiving can give.
Read the bible passage again for further clarification.

Remain blessed!
