THE WHOLE DUTY OF MAN

Matthew 3:16-17 — 'So Jesus was baptized. As soon as he came up out of the water, the sky opened, and he saw God’s Spirit coming down on him like a dove. A voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, the one I love. I am very pleased with him. ” ' ERV.

Something got me thinking here, before the Holy Spirit made it clearer to me.

Matthew 3:17 was when the Father made a public declaration of Jesus.

Don't forget,

This was when he had not yet preached a single message or taught in any class.

This was when he had not yet cast out any demons.

This was when he had not yet performed any miracle.

This was when he had not yet gathered followers or crowd to himself.

This was when he had not yet obtained any title.

Lastly, or in a nutshell,

This was when he had not yet started his ministry here on earth.

He was 30 years old.

A 30 years old man who have lived with humans as a human that long.

Someone who have lived as a carpenter and a carpenter's son for that long.

Someone who was once a toddler, an adolescent, a teenager, a young adult, a bachelor and an apprentice.

Here is my point,

For 30 years, Jesus had consistently lived a life whose essence was to be well pleasing to the Father.

For 30 years, he had lived a life that pleased, prompted and moved the Father to say, "this is my beloved son... In whom I am well please."

Let us assume, Jesus acted like others and lived to please the flesh. Do On think the Father would have said same about him?

You would say, "is he not the son of God or even God himself?"

But I say, "haven't you read of angels (sons of God) falling short?"

The very first person to fully please God — doing His will unblemished was Jesus Christ.

My brothers and sisters,

Why do you think you need ministry work before you can please God?

Why do you think you need to have power for signs and wonders before you can please God?

Why do you think you need to preach your first public sermons before you can please God?

Why do you think you need to be a worker in church before you can please God?

Why do you think you need to hold a position before you can please God?

Why do you think you must be a pastor before you can please God?

Why do you think you must be of a certain age before you can please God?

Note this: it was Jesus' well-lived 30 years that pleased God so much to hand over to him or, to begin his Ministry.

Jesus only lived a life pleasing in the eyes of God for 30 years to warrant that declaration from God.

He made God proud as a carpenter's son and as a carpenter — with his occupation, career, at home, in his neighbourhood, in the temple, in fact, everywhere and at anytime.

You have no excuse not to please God everywhere and at anytime of your life upon knowing Him.

How have you lived your life to this point?

Can God say the same about you after 30 years? 10 years? 5 years? 4 months? 2 weeks? 1 day? Even before you commence on His assignment?

The whole duty of man here on earth is to please God and obey His commandments.

I stop here!
